Lecture Capture used in High Enrollment Course
FIN 221 Corporate Finance has been video captured in a small seminar type course during the summer of 2008. The videos from those lectures were chunked into small 6-10 minute video clips which have been posted into the Course Management System (IL Compass) as part of the course materials for the Fall. The regular semester course has over 700 students. The class is offered in a blended learning format, the lectures are online and students have one face-to-face meeting with the instructor and one discussion section per week.
Prof. Dyer explains here the reasons that motivated the video capture, his perception of lecture capture before and after this experience, and he gives some recommendations to instructors that may want to try this strategy also.
If you want to hear more about the experience in this class you can watch Prof Dyer's conversation with Lanny Arvan.
